To lose weight, a person must expend more energy than they take in. Research has shown that taking in less calories is more effective than trying to increase activity.  This can be achieved by counting calories, reducing portion size, substituting lower calorie foods, reducing fat intake, and following healthy eating patterns.

Our onsite registered dietitian will sit with you to evaluate your current eating habits.  For most people, a reduction of 500 to 1,000 calories per day (kcal/day) will achieve the recommended weight loss goal of one to two pounds per week.  You will receive counseling to help you develop an eating plan that fits with your lifestyle.  It will help you to lose weight and keep it off.



Emily Carper is a registered and licensed dietitian/nutritionist. She has experience in counseling patients for the management of chronic diseases through nutrition and lifestyle changes to include diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and obesity. Emily helped develop and implement a weight management program at the YMCA and taught various nutrition based classes there as well. She is also a Corporate Wellness Specialist and certified Yoga instructor.
